I recently saw Al at Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. He was awesome, as usual! Dave Nachmanov was on fire; he can really play. He was constantly getting applause for his guitar solos. The bass player was good too, but I can't remember his name atm.

Al closed the show with Midas Shadow, which I wasn't expecting. I don't think I've ever heard that one in concert before. Also he did News From Spain...

The highlight of the show had to be On The Border; So awesome! But I missed League of Notions, which he didn't do, and I STILL haven't heard Bear Farmers of Birnham...

Al did 'Eisenhower Years' and 'Football Hero' at the concert. I liked 'em both, so for my part anyway I'm excited about this. (!!!!!!!)

There's some cool new things for sale on www.nevillejudd.com (For those who don't know, Neville is Al's friend in england who sells pretty much everything Al-related.) Specifically, look here: http://www.nevillejudd.com/index.php?id=48

Notice the CD "Dragonfly" has 3 brand new songs! I'm so getting it.

Hello,
I had totally forgotten that I had created  this community. Apologies. I created this community so that fans of Al Stewart's music could gather in appreciation of good music. I just tinkered with the layout a bit, upgraded it to a Plus account so we could get more links, and add polls, and such, and added some tags. Rules will be coming shortly. If anyone has any suggestions about tags, interests, and information for the userpage or links, please let me know. Also, does anyone wants to help me co-mod this community?
Meg

Someone on YouTube posted 11 songs from a concert Al did with Laurence Juber in California in 1995. Here's the link:

You'll need to sort through all 3 pages to see all 11 clips. I recommend watching Antarctica and Modern Times first. Watch Soho last!

Hello all. Do you have a favorite Al song? That one special song that (just barely) edges out all the others (as awesome as most of his songs are...)? I'm also wondering, if you do have a favorite, what pool did you have to choose from? (i.e. do you own only his first 3 albums...)

For me it's League of Notions (from Between the Wars). I've owned all his albums with the exceptions of Bedsitter Images and Orange (though I have a few songs from each on other mix albums).

Even if you don't feel that you own 'a lot' of Al's work, I'm still curious if you have a favorite.

There are hardly any/no members, no posts, but oh well. I need to know at least someone else out there loves Al Stewart.
I picked up a 3 pack of his CDs a few months ago - Orange, Past, Present and Future and Modern Times. Modern Times is my current favourite. Is it just me or is that album really really short?

I used to like Roads to Moscow and Old Admirals best - but I found On The Border on a compilation album, and it may be my favourite song ever...

He's got a lovely voice...and his lyrics amaze me - hundreds of dates, impossible to learn or sing along to. Plus he only seems to know about 7 chords, which is great cos they're the same 7 I know!

I don't have everything of his, just those 3, but I make up for it with enthusiasm!

Is anybody else going to post? Has anybody got anything at all to say?  Or am I just going to look incredibly lonely?

Current Mood: pessimistic All by myself...
